Gumball Afghan Free Crochet Pattern

This is a blanket crochet pattern by Toni Lipsey, the incredibly talented author behind  TL Yarn Crafts, created in cooperation with WeCrochet. It can obviously be used to create a baby blanket, an afghan, or even a colorful bedspread.

If you are a beginner, you are certainly always on the lookout for opportunities to learn new stitches. This easy pattern is exactly what you need in order to take your skills to the next level. And to create something warm and beautiful while you’re at it!

The technique the author teaches us here is called the faux chain cable stitch. It is inspired by the classic Jacob’s Ladder stitch. If you like to read about the history of crochet, you have surely read about it before!

For this crochet cable afghan pattern, you can use worsted weight yarn in your favorite colors. For her Gumball Afghan, the author created a lovely spring and summer color palette. It uses the Heatherly Worsted yarn by WeCrochet.

No matter what colors you mix here, you will end up with something too pretty to be true. Get your favorite 6mm crochet hook ready!
