There is a lot to say about the importance of flower squares in crochet blankets. It’s because they can be true pieces of art by themselves, as well as work with each other nicely. You can find many Marvelous Floral Squares available online, so you can mix and match them however you like. Big blankets, bedspreads, or afghans can transform your living space completely! Certainly, with the use of crochet squares, you can create unique designs for your home. The flower motif is very popular among designers, and it’s no surprise because crochet stitches are perfect for creating three-dimensional structures. Many patterns use basic stitches only and create lovely flowers using variations of shell stitches. 1. The Elloth square is NOT a granny square. So many people seem to be confused and tend to call everything square a granny square. Any pattern with stitches more intricate than the simple 3dc-shell in a chain-space (aka the granny stitch), is a square.

    1. So pleased to find that someone else has the same thoughts about “granny squares” Have been correcting all my local crocheters about that. But never thought to put it on the internet. Thank you. Marlena.
