Market Bag

This lovely net bag has a unique shape, which you may know as a “French market bag”. You start with knitting a simple rectangle, then you cinch it with a few rows of stitches and add the handles. This way you end up with a lovely bag of a half-circular shape that is compact enough to fit in your pocket.

  3. I have knit the COTTON ISLAND BAG at least a dozen times, use it for shopping and have given many away as gifts. It stretches to accommodate all different sized grocery items, including cartons of milk and clamshells of salad greens. I knit it in Bernat Hand-crafted cotton, so it can easily be laundered. I can highly recommend this bag!
